Online Handbook of Argumentation for AI

handbook for PhD research

The Online Handbook of Argumentation for AI (OHAAI) is a collection of selected peer-reviewed papers summarising ongoing PhD research on Argumentation in AI, published annually as an online Open Access handbook. OHAAI serves as a research hub to track the latest PhD projects on the theory and application of argumentation. It maintains an open call for submissions, allowing contributors to submit their work throughout the year.

OHAAI includes:

  • collaboration and knowledge discovery across the argumentation community,
  • a citable annual peer-reviewed publication venue for PhD students,
  • promotion of argumentation through events and wider PhD-facing communication,
  • opportunities for accepted contributors to present their work at OHAAI events.

How can you contribute to OHAAI?

If you are a PhD student or recent graduate, you can contribute to OHAAI by submitting a summary of your PhD project in computational argumentation, clearly indicating how your work contributes to emerging theoretical techniques and/or applications of argumentation for AI. Submissions undergo a thorough single-blind peer-review process within 6–8 weeks, with feedback provided to contributors and decisions communicated on acceptance or required revisions. Once accepted, submissions are published on the OHAAI website and contributors are invited to present at an OHAAI event.

OHAAI encourages contributors to update project summaries annually, creating a continually refreshed repository of PhD research. Its focus includes topics connecting AI and argumentation with disciplines such as Philosophy, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Law, Health, Sociology, Communication Science, and Economics.

Why contribute to OHAAI?

By contributing, researchers can publish in a citable peer-reviewed venue, strengthen their research profile, and share concise updates on PhD progress with the broader community. Accepted contributors are also invited to present their work at OHAAI events, helping increase visibility and build new collaborations.
